Who we are

Capitol Drop (“we,” “us,” “our”) provides a weekly digest and related tools that summarize public legislative activity from U.S. Congress. This policy describes the personal information we collect and how we use it.

What we collect

• Account and contact: email address and password (stored securely by our authentication provider). You may optionally provide a display name.
• Billing: if you subscribe to a paid plan, payment details are collected and processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card number on our servers; Stripe provides us with limited billing metadata (for example, subscription status and the last four digits of a card when applicable).
• Premium demographics (if you use Premium): information you choose to add to your profile—such as age range, income band, state, or similar fields—to personalize digest content. You control what you enter.
• Technical data: standard server and application logs (for example, timestamps and error reports) to operate and secure the service. Session cookies are used so you can stay signed in.

How we use your information

• To create and manage your account and send you the digest and service-related emails.
• To process payments, manage subscriptions, and communicate billing issues.
• To personalize content when you use Premium features, based on profile information you provide.
• To improve reliability, fix bugs, and protect against abuse or fraud.

What we do not do

• We do not sell your personal information.
• We do not share your information with third parties for their own marketing or advertising. We use subprocessors (such as hosting, email delivery, payments, and authentication) only to run the product you signed up for.
• We do not use your data to run third-party advertising networks.

Congress.gov and public records

Bill text, actions, and related metadata from Congress.gov and the Congress.gov API are U.S. government works and generally not subject to copyright in the same way as private content. We may display or summarize that public information in the digest.

AI-generated summaries

Summaries and explanations in our product are generated with the help of artificial intelligence and editorial tooling. They are for informational and civic-education purposes only. They are not legal advice, and they may be incomplete or incorrect. Always read official bill text and consult a qualified professional when decisions matter.

Cookies

We keep cookies to a minimum. We use cookies and similar technologies needed for authentication (for example, to keep you signed in) and for basic security. We do not use advertising cookies.

How to delete your data

You can manage subscription and profile details in Account settings. To delete your account or ask us to remove personal information, contact us using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable time and may need to verify your identity.
